General Responsibilities: Assists nutrition services director and assistant director with training, supervision, and evaluation of Nutrition Services staff. Oversees the National School Lunch, Breakfast and Afterschool programs for compliance with USDA guidelines and department policies.
Annual Salary : $59,018 - $79,673 DOE
Work Day : 8 hours
Work Year : 12 months
Job Qualifications - The following are required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Four (4) years of experience in a position with similar responsibility to include supervision of others, commercial kitchen environment, and food safety implementation. Relevant education may be substituted only for experience in a commercial kitchen environment and food safety implementation on a year for year basis.
Experience with principles of staff supervision and training.
Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, and fax machine.
Knowledge of the National School Lunch program, nutrition and health department guidelines.
Proficient in skill-based computer competencies and use of peripherals to perform the functions of the job, such as Internet use, email, Microsoft Office programs, document creation, organization and editing.
Strong oral and written communication skills; proficient English language skills.
Organization skills sufficient to develop efficient work methods and meet deadlines. Solid critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Strong mathematical skills including general accounting techniques.
Exceptional customer service and public relation skills and professionalism.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, use time efficiently, demonstrate attention to detail, follow instructions and respond to management direction.
Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies and administrative regulations, ESSA negotiated agreement and department policies and procedures.
Ability to work with detailed information/data and maintain strict confidentiality of written and oral information and records.
Ability to communicate with diverse groups and positively represent the department; interact with customers in a courteous, tactful and pleasant manner, sometimes in stressful and busy situations.
Ability to work within a team, and follow standardized practices and/or methods; ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
Requires lifting, including objects weighing as much as 50 lbs.
Per DEC regulations, must have or be able to pass ServeSafe course within first 45 days of employment and maintain certification.
A valid Alaska driver?s license and use of a personal vehicle. Must be able to provide proof of vehicle insurance in order to gain access to military installations.
