We are currently seeking a Merchandising Manager to join our team. This position is preferably located in Mason City, IA or remote if within a few hours from this office. As the Merchandising Manager, you will be responsible for leading the procurement of assigned ingredients and managing relationship with assigned suppliers. Responsible for purchase and sales activities for NutriQuest amino acids, DDGS and other relevant ingredients needed. This position will oversee NutriQuest logistics management, domestically and internationally.
Essential Functions
Provide purchasing leadership and expertise to ensure maximum value is achieved from and throughout the procurement process.
In a production environment, generate supply schedules.
Responsible for coordination and oversight for supplier relationships assigned
Oversee forecasting for ingredient needs and managing inventories to appropriately manage product mix for the highest return.
Negotiate with suppliers where appropriate.
Develop and maintain relationship with assigned supply companies.
Develop best practice procurement processes and techniques that ensure company procedures are followed.
Support organizational commitment to purchasing excellence through identifying and facilitating the cross functional teams (e.g., account managers, nutritionists, customer service specialists, logistics, accounting) required to deliver benefits in key categories.
Provide market and supplier intelligence from supply base on costs and performance in order to ensure that rapid and effective commercial decisions can be made.
Lead development of strategy for resale of amino acids, DDGS, and other relevant ingredients.
Lead sales efforts, in conjunction with account managers and nutrition consultants, of assigned feed ingredients (DDGS, amino acids, others as assigned)
Provide oversight for logistics management ? incoming and outgoing ? of all ingredients.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Ag Science or Ag Business preferred
Three to five years? experience in feed ingredient procurement, prefer experience in international shipments and container freight
Understanding of relative feeding value of alternative feeding ingredients
Strong understanding of major commodities and mid-protein markets
Basic understanding of formulation software and usage preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, intermediate level in Excel and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
