Members also serve on regional, national boards and committees throughout the globe.
Corporate office operations were established over 67 years ago and staff members on average have worked for the organization for 10 or more years. In 2017, membership is at its? highest in the organization?s history and we have had record attendance at all regional and international conferences. Who we seek??..
We are seeking a highly proficient executive assistant to provide executive secretarial and administrative support to the International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated. One of the essential functions of the role will be to coordinate and manage the travel schedule, in-office appointments, and other business of the International President.
Some of the other general responsibilities include:
Performing clerical work of the International President and office operations to ensure timely submission of reports, letters, and other materials originating in the office.
Coordinating activities related to Board of Directors and other meetings.
Preparing materials to be disseminated at Committee or Directorate Meetings.
Assisting the International President with activities related to conference planning.
Performing secretarial duties of a confidential nature for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated when requested and approved by the International President; particularly managing regional investigation and suspension files including tracking spreadsheets in partnership with the director of membership.
Supporting executive level staff as needed.
Performing other job related duties and travel as assigned.
Requirements:
High school graduate and minimum of two years of college successfully completed. Four years of directly-related job experience may be substituted for the two years of successfully completed college work. Bachelor?s degree preferred.
3 ? 5 years of job-related experience.
High degree of poise, tact, judgement and superior interpersonal skills; ability to carry out duties with minimal supervision.
Ability to deal with matters.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Ability to operate office machines and equipment including computer, calculator, copiers, scanners, printers, and fax machines.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software (Outlook, Word, Power Point) and other database applications.
Strong organizational, verbal and written skills.
Strong customer service focus.
In this role, you will report to the International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., who is looking for an individual that can function autonomously. This individual will have a Monday ? Friday work shift of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but needs to be flexible enough to assist the International President with her travel schedule early in the morning and/or late at night on an as needed basis. The selected individual will need to be very organized in order to maintain the calendar and schedule of the International President who travels extensively. The workload varies and at times can be quite heavy so the person who takes on the role will need to be able to multi-task and meet deadlines accordingly.
