Sales Consultant Job Opening in Davenport, Iowa - The responsibilities of the Sales Consultant are centered on the process of understanding and meeting customer needs. In order to sell, this person must have a basic knowledge of automotive systems and a thorough knowledge of prices, models, series, options, and other variations of the manufacturer?s products, and should also know much about the competition?s products and prices. Most importantly, this person should have sensitivity toward the customer and a strong interest in exceeding the customer?s expectations. This person must have polished communication skills with customers, including the ability to present the company?s products and the ability to discover, by questioning, exactly what the customer?s needs are. The Sales Consultant must calculate fees, taxes, down payments, and discounts to arrive at the price of a vehicle, and, in addition, must work with the Sales Manager in completing a sales contract which meets the customer?s need. The Sales Consultant is capable of addressing customer hesitation and resistance. Throughout the selling process, the Sales Consultant presents a positive image of the dealership, both in mode of dress and in helpful and friendly attitude. The Sales Consultant, in conjunction with the Sales Manager, determines personal sales goals and the methods by which those goals will be met. This goal orientation affords the Sales Consultant a structured method of building a clientele and achieving success. This person works systematically not only in the sales process but also in the process of handling the many administrative requirements of the position (e.g., paperwork, plans, reports, and the maintenance of a card file on prospects). H/she is responsible for selling vehicles at dealership volume and customer satisfaction standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

E Realizes that business is built on customer satisfaction and devotes himself/herself to guaranteeing satisfaction of customers.
E Determines each customer?s vehicle needs by asking questions and listening.
E Demonstrates vehicles (includes ability to drive all makes and models of vehicles sold at the dealership).
E Delivers vehicles to customers. This process ensures that the customer understands the vehicle?s operation features, warranty and paperwork, and it lays the foundation for customer loyalty.
E Attends sales meetings.
E During the purchase consultation, it is mandatory that only a member of management quote payments and be present during this part of the purchase consultation.
E Every guest is to receive a proper introduction to a member of management prior to their departure from our facility.
E Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
E Maintains a prospect development system.
E Keeps abreast of incoming inventory, new products, features, accessories, etc. and their benefits to customers.
E Establishes personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity, and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
E Reports to Sales Manager regarding objectives, planned activities, reviews and analysis.
E Reviews and analyzes actions at the end of each day, week, month and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.
E Understands the terminology of the automobile business and keeps abreast of technological changes in the product.
E Knows and understands equity, values, and is able to explain depreciation to the customer.
E Knows and understands the federal, state and local laws which govern retail auto sales.
E Introduces customers to service department personnel to emphasize to customers the quality and efficiency of the dealership?s service operations. Also, fills out a new owner ?First Oil Change Card? for each delivery setting their first oil change appointment.
E Upon completion of a new consultant?s 60-day training period, each consultant is expected to deliver a minimum of eight (8) vehicles per month.
M Works with the service department and body shop to ensure that vehicles are reconditioned as expected and on schedule (USR).
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Valid driver?s license and driving record to meet company standards. Professional personal appearance. Excellent communication skills. Ability to sell a minimum quota according to dealership standards.
