District Sales Manager - Seed Corn Job Opening in Logan, Iowa - Four Star Seed Company in Iowa is searching for qualified candidate that has experience in the seed sales business to cover a territory in Central Iowa.
This great opportunity is for an individual that is not only motivated to sell, but enjoys the opportunity to work with others and for a family owned business. As a DSM you will build your own team of dealers and sellers and coach them for success as well as work directly with end users on direct sales. The ideal candidates for this position are existing DSM's or retail sales people who are ready to take that next step in their career. The territory has some existing dealers in place but the territory is open for a large amount of growth.

Job Description
The District Sales Manager (DSM) sells and distributes seed in their respective territory. The DSM reports to President and is responsible for seed sales goals based on volume and margin. The sales effort of the DSM is focused on recruiting seed sales representatives such as farmer/dealers, key accounts, and any other commissioned sales representatives. The DSM identifies, recruits, trains, and coaches seed sales representatives.
Required Skills
Bachelor?s degree from four-year College or Associate Ag field degree; or 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
General knowledge of Agronomics including fertility, precision ag, seed, weeds, insect, plant diseases, and other pests
General knowledge of grain marketing including end use market, railroads, various grain contracts, and be familiar with grain terminology
General knowledge of farming operations (equipment, finance, grain marketing, risk management, crop insurance, etc.)
Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
Demonstrated successful decision making while operating in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
High degree of initiative, intellectual curiosity and abstract reasoning skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, high sense of urgency and creative thinking
Mathematical Skills: General arithmetic, percentages & fractions.
Good computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite- Excel. Word, etc, and comfort with working with computers.
Required Experience
Recruits, trains and establishes goals for commissioned seed sales representatives
Initiates, implements, and monitors seed test plots
Develop budgets and sales goals for territory and implements sales programs to increase market share
Managing customers and prospects, identifying growth opportunities, developing sales techniques to overcome objections from prospects, asking for the order and gaining commitment, and managing receivables
Maintains communication with management by providing weekly sales reports and solutions to constraints
Provides a communication channel between customers, suppliers, and Operations personnel to set service expectations levels, and resolve problems and scheduling issues
Provides customers with technical service and problem solving capabilities
