Project Engineer Job Opening in Chattanooga, Tennessee - Project Engineer to manage all technical aspects of a project including mechanical and hydraulic systems and works with electrical engineering group on electrical systems. Local candidate preferred.
Provide information to Product Leaders and CAD operators and performs engineering calculations during the design cycle as required. He/she carries out the testing and validation of new designs and changes to existing designs. A Project Engineer utilizes computer-assisted engineering and design/drafting equipment and software (AutoCAD and SolidWorks) to develop layout drawings and, if required, detailed fabrication drawings for new designs and changes to existing designs. He/she also assists customers, via telephone or onsite, to resolve function and/or application issues. A Project Engineer is responsible for planning, assigning and directing work to product leaders and CAD Operators and for appraising their performance in accordance with the organization's policies and any applicable laws. Safety is very important for the benefit of all employees. Therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn and proper safety procedures followed at all times.
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering; basic typing skills; proficiency with personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite software applications; experience working with engineering-type software programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ProE, Project Data Management (PDM) or other 3-D engineering software; engineering drawing reading and interpretation skills; and knowledge of engineering systems of symbols, legends, shadings and lines required. Several years of related work experience a plus. Emphasis should be on machine design, mechanics of materials and power transmission. Experience in design and manufacture of off-road construction equipment, hydraulic circuits and 12V/24V DC electrical circuits; understanding of AS400 mainframe software; and knowledge of manufacturing processes a plus. Occasional travel, valid driver's license, flexibility to work additional hours, drug screen, physical, background/MVR check required.
