Buyer, Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) Job Opening in Seneca, South carolina - POSITION SUMMARY
The MRO Buyer is responsible for the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization by performing the following duties.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Purchase materials, components, and/or services consistent with specified levels of quality, delivery, and total cost
Process purchase orders, change orders and notices to proceed
Maintains complete purchasing responsibility for assigned parts throughout part life including: receipt of requisition, researching vendors /suppliers for best value, placement of orders, change orders, and disposition of discrepant material
Track, expedite and document the status of all outstanding purchase orders; provide periodic updates/reports
Obtains and evaluates quotations, places orders, and ensures timely delivery
Prepare bid packages
Serve in a liaison capacity between appropriate company personnel and supplier representatives for issue resolutions and project management.
Handle contractual changes; resolve any potential accounting, shipping and receiving issues with open purchase orders
Exercise judgment and knowledge of components to make purchases consistent with specified levels of quality, delivery, and price
Recommend cost saving ideas including make vs. buy analysis
Assess inventory levels and needs, and troubleshooting discrepancies
Misc. clerical duties
Performs other related duties and assignments as required
Expedite order to provide On-Time delivery to meet or exceed the customer's demands
Knowledgeable of tool crib layout, bin location, and product lines
Ability to identify slow moving inventory
Issue/Receive product
Perform order entry
Follow up/expedite materials as needed and advise those most impacted.
Maintain inventory levels that support daily operations while utilizing the SAP system.
Work as a team member and participate in joint meetings with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and other processes as needed.
Promote a strong liaison with appropriate personnel in the plant and foster good working relationships with suppliers.
Provide and maintain accurate and current monthly status reports
Coordinates all activities related to procurement of a commodity beginning with intent to purchase through delivery.
Analyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed.
Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested commodity.
Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
Advises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.
Assures that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.

Four-year is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered.
Minimum of five years? experience in purchasing, sourcing, materials, and operations
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Purchasing or supply chain management degree/certificate or equivalent experience
Proficiency level experience in utilizing SAP in the procurement process
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Good analytical and problem-resolution ability
Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks while dealing with disruptions and change
Good organization and time management skills a must
